 Sam and Elmer, where are you? Went out to check the cold frames this afternoon and took the fleece off - and the seedings have been attacked, looks like a mouse or a vole. Most of the tops of the peas and beans have been nipped off and in some places the germinating seeds have been pulled out. At least the little bugger wot done it had the decency to put all the husks in the same place, all very neat and tidy. So all that's left growing in some of the trays is now covered by plastic lids or inside 8 litre plastic cloches to try to deter the little varmints from coming back. Yosemite Sam or Elmer Fudd, where are you when I need you?

| Frustrating isn't it??  My main culprits over the past couple of years have been slugs. Maybe the cold snap has encouraged them to gorge on your seedlings? Hope the next batch come on ok. |

| Hi Tony, bad mice!!!  I have rats who live by a nearby stream they ate all the bird food by climing trees and balancing on little branches and now im worried they are gonna get my veg!! thinking about getting one of those electrical rat/mouse deterrants, has anyone ever tried them?? |

| Only use the electric one of there are guard posts and searchlights included in the kit - mind you, that was to keep people in, not stop them getting in. In France mice are called souris and the best mouse killing stuff I've found is called souricide, now that's funny - well, it would be if the buggers eat it when I put it down for them tomorrow. I also have humane traps and if I can just get the hammer to fall in the right place, I promise you they wont feel a thing!

| Much as I hate killing 'wild life' I would seriously consider the old fashioned 'enlarged' version of the mouse trap for rats. Hey Rat...what is their favouate bait??? I know squirrels like digestive bisuits ...but what about rats???? |
