 rust on my leeks I'm so upset - they were doing so well. What should I do? Will it mean I can't eat them? I have a poweder I bought in case of blight, can I spray them with that, do you think? sigh.      |

| Rust on my garlic and leeks are a fact of life for me unfortunately. The crops are certainly edible, with leeks just peel off the outer layer of skin and it will look as good as new. It just looks unsightly. Put all of the trimmings and peelings into your dustbin and not on your compost heap.

| It might spread to similar crops i.e. onions, garlic, shallots and for some reason hollyhocks. Make sure you clean your tools after handling the leeks to minimise cross-infection.
