Default Netting

This year almost all of my turnips (and I assume my swedes) have been attacked by what I think it either maggots or catapillers (some are white and some are brown). They've all got small holes in them where they've been eaten by the bugs. So, next year I'm going to grow my brassicas (and roots) under netting. However, do you know what would be a good size mesh (i.e. the size of the holes in the netting) that would be enough to stop things from laying their eggs on them? I'm not keen an enviromesh because it is quite expensive.

Any ideas would be great.

Steven

You can get cheap plastic netting from Wilkinson's that'll keep moths and caterpillars off. It has a mesh size of about 1/2".
