Default Horse's Tail

The 28m x 8m allotment I took on in February is infested with Marestail. The previous owner believed in the make a hole and plonk it in method, never digging. It was very hard compact clay and I dug it over. The Marestail loved it! I have sprayed with double strength neat Glyphosate, pulled it up, hoed it to no avail. The whole site looks like a shag pile carpet of the stuff.

I am thinking of using one of the new deep root weed killers in rotation around the allotment and had a look at them today, but none mention how long it is before you can replant, especially veggies. Can anyone help? It's driving me nuts having to hunt for the veggies through the undergrowth!

I read somewhere that there are some products containing ammonium sulphamate still available, but I don't know any brand names. All my GC has is Glyphosphate and Weedol

Thanks everyone. I have seen some SBK weedkiller and might try that and anything else I can find! Let battle commence. The previous thread was useful.
