Default Blue Compost query

Hi,

At the weekend I trimmed back my fennel as was growing from herb bed over path and kept smacking children in the face as they went past. I put it in the compost (black plastic tub variety) and now everything including the fennel has turned dark blue!!!!! All looks OK but blue...

Is this normal or have I writen off half a tub of well mixed compost??

I'd be really pleased if anyone knows what's happened.

Thanks Beth

No idea Beth but I wouldn't worry unduly about it if it was only fennel you added. Maybe just a reaction to the composting process.
