    It was cut back last year and gets massive over night. Needed the pruning saw last year the stem was so thick

    Are the leaves glossy? Looks like laurel.

      I think it could be an elder or an ash seedling. If it is the latter, you can cut it back to just below the ground level and it shouldn't re-grow from the root.

        I;d put money on it being Elder. If it smells rank then it certainly is.

              another vote for elder. I have the same growing up through my raspberry patch. I didn't plant it, so the seed might have been from elderberries in my compost

                Personally I'd get rid of it now...I think it's way too close to your foundations!

                Carefully pruned it makes a nice bush, but you've no idea what the roots will be up to

                  It's in next doors garden but comes through our fence every year. May have to ask if I can go in and dig it up! Thanks guys
