Default weather

We all know that it has been very mild over the last couple of months , the weather that we are having now would be what month normally and if it continues would plant we be puting out May June go out end april. What does anyone else think do they thin it will continue to be milder than normal due to climate change. How much warmer is it down Camborne cornwall to the rest of the country.

thanks
marion

A good question Marion. Its been 12 degrees here today which is unbelievable. However, I am not convinced that we, in Shetland anyway, don't have a cold spell around the corner. Every March we get a week of snow, always around the 1 - 7 March. That I do know as its the Drama Festival and its a bloomin' nuisance trying to get in and out for rehearsals and the performance. I go everywhere with my sleeping bag. This winter IS definately warmer on average than last winter. We had a fill of oil this week for the central heating and normally that would be in the New Year (as we are always worried we'll run out over the holiday) so we are obviously not using as much as usual. But is it down to climate change ......... that's the big question.

it's been about 6-12 deg most days here and this is quite a dry spell , we did have snow for one day on the 26th of feburary last year and it lasted 2 hours.
the weather is very worrying at the moment no wet and windy weather , no freezing tempratures after having 4 high pressures coming through this last fortnight .
i think my self we will carry on getting warm tempratures for the rest of winter and lots of big bursts of heavy rain showers , thats what i'm gearing up for anyway as i think i will lose more crops this year due to water logging and rotting out than frost .
i may be wrong but this is my opionan of the winter to come !

I think we're due for a spell of hard frost here in East Anglia - looking at last year's records we had a lot of snow on 28th Feb last year. We've had very few frosts so far this year, but I'm sure there are some coming. I think we'll just have to wait and see, I may be wrong. Bulbs and shrubs are putting on new growth and i'm itching to start sowing seeds but I dare not just yet.

if your itching to plant seeds then put some in theb ground and some in pots and if the frost does not kill the ones in the ground then you have some left for swopping or car boot, or an early crop while others are still sowing.

We had the first frost last night and it's been very cold all day today, but bright in the sunshine.
Hope my Banana Shallotts are ok in the cold frame - I transplanted them yesterday into (very) moist pots!

We can't tell Kittykat, but there was a report this week by top scientists saying global warming is definately underway, and what we need to do about it.
It has certainly been very mild here, nothing you could call winter. But all that could change next week !

Here is a good weather site - metcheck.com. It gives forecasts for the next ten days, I've just had a wee look and in the Glasgow area we are due for frosts, some of them even during the day, so it's set for colder more seasonal conditions here. I'm so glad I took the general advise of other grapes and haven't sown anything yet, I'll sit on my hands for a while longer (well maybe for another couple of weeks).

You never know what's round the corner but this site gives you half a chance.

Metcheck is good, tho I always check it with BBC weather too, sometimes only one of them gets it right, other times they do agree (and at other times they both get it wrong! lol!)

don't we have quite different weather to each other ogilvie ? my OH used to hit snow and bad weather when working and driving to EK each day. Seemed to be a bit colder over your way.

I find Metcheck good for hour by hour forecast but very pessimistic for temperature forecasts. Maybe they're forecasting for East Kilbride. It does seem to be frost, snow and ice there when there's none anywhere else.
