Light frosting in shade until lunch time but has been beautifully sunny for days in North East Scotland. Spring flowers coming into bloom everywhere and snow drops. Everywhere people digging over beds and young farmers manure deliveries start tomorrow. What more could you ask for?

Ho Hum
After last weeks devastating stormy Friday, we have severe weather warnings for this Friday too. Severe South Westerly gales with exceptionally heavy rain - happy, happy happy

Yep us too. My son is supposed to be on the boat north tomorrow evening, but the forecast is pretty awful. Looks like the low will pass alongside us. The wind has been picking up already this evening and has been pretty gusty. All the pots and garden bits that had blown over with last week's gale have been left lying on the ground. No point in picking them up at this time of the year. My hostas get used to growing at 90 degrees.

Min 55 knot NW winds (no idea how much higher its gusting), blue skies (what a treat) freezing temps only 2 degress (someone said wind chill was -10), thunder, lightning, hail and snow showers. No snow lying at the moment as the wind isn't giving it a chance!

All ferries cancelled and all inter island ferries been out of action since this morning. Polytunnel blowing in and out rather horrendously at the moment but still standing. All pots lying on the ground at various points of the garden, the three daffs that are out are hanging their heads wondering why they bothered and some of my bare root trees planted last weekend are lying on the grass!

Oh I love the weather here

Hi Jennie
We had the blue sky yesterday - today was either sleet, snow, rain or hail but we've had the 50mph+ winds for 3 days now and the forecast on Landward reckons next week will be the same only more snow !!!
Dunno when I'll get the new cover on my tunnel

Holding our breath here! We've had glorious weather since Saturday - blue skies, warm sunshine, gentle winds, generally just bliss! and its only May. Sat out in the garden last night until 7.30.

Just one day of fog on Tuesday (warm sunny weather and SE breeze brings a dampness and fog), but amazingly Tingwall was the only sunny place. We could see the fog all around us but the sun shone on the garden and I spent the day cutting and strimming the grass.

Hope it lasts ............

After a glorious May we've had nothing but cold. strong, northerly winds for over two weeks now. And not just cold winds, hail, and heavy rain too.

Its nearly mid summer and so far not really a summer at all!

I've had he same winds Jennie but no rain worth speaking of for ages - my field is like a dust bowl - there is very little moisture in top inch of soil at all - need some soon or my transplants are gonna start going backwards.
