  • Mind your pots!!!!

We are expecting a chill factor of -6 C tonight...it will be cold enough to split terracotta pots ( and most others).
Be ready to pop a bit of newspaper over them for the next few evenings .
    Also...check your greenhouses.....

Thanks for the reminder Nicos. I don't have any terracotta pots which are not frostproof so I hope they will be okay. The greenhouse has an oil-filled heater in which is set on low and so far has been okay, hasn't come on often yet. Just keeping the carrots frost-free for Christmas dinner. I still have tomatoes flowering - is that normal? Big Jims are doing better now than all summer too

Posted on Midlands thread but topical?

Some brass monkeys outside sung carols soprano,
You could 'ear 'em cursin' and swearin',
As they wandered 'round lost in the cold and the frost
      They couldn't find their bearings.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

This is true.......whist walking the dog I found two large brass threaded nuts on the field! Looked everywhere for the monkey!
