Think you're winning Nicos. Worst temperatures I've lived through was -17 degrees which went on for weeks at the beginning of January around 1979. Amazingly (or not) most things in the garden survived. I think it was harder on mere humans.

We have a 'Feels like' -10degC for Wed night/Thurs morn but I have know the temperature down below -30degC up here! In fact, the lowest British temperature on record was from Altnaharra, where I lived up until a year ago, and that was -36!!

I was in Iceland last March sitting in a hot spa, outside, and the temperature was minus 12 degrees. Bloomin cold getting in but lovely! Amazingly I found the temperatures, although very cold were quite refreshing and didn't feel half as cold as the wind chill we get here. I can never work it out, but if the temperature is only 2 degrees and there's a 50 mph northerly wind, the wind chill puts the temperature pretty low.

We were -1 last night with snow showers. Bitterly cold today with a strong northerly wind. Hills to the north are completely white, but it is not settling on the lower levels. Seems we have quite a bit of snow forecast for later in the week.

No snow but wide spread frost and it must still be down near freezing now. Think there's snow forecast for Thursday round here.

Forecast is for -7 here tonight, and probably wont get above freezing tomorrow, so I think we will probably be burning the rubbish on the plot tomorrow to try and keep warm, nothing like a good bonfire to warm yer cockles up!

Prefer mussels myself, or baked tatties!

The solution to roasted cockles is not to stand so close to the flames!

Quite a good layer of snow here tonight (the nice light fluffy stuff!) and freezing temperatures. Managed to get the paraffin heater in the greenhouse alight (now stink of paraffin!), but temp has fallen below freezing. Even the house feels cold tonight.

No idea of the temperatue as I haven't ventured outside yet - however the thick white frost that's blanketing my garden kind of convinces me it's minus something or other!

Local radio is chuntering on about a severe weather warning - I can but hope as most of the snow misses us here and tends to land on Sheffield

Nice and sunny here now although I'm guessing very cold. Car thermometer said -4 on the way to work - couldn't face cycling as it took me about an hour to get any feeling back in my fingers when I got in at about 9 last night. Don't know what the temperature was but even with heavy duty gloves it was very painful! Still at least it's killing all those bugs off at last!

Hi - sorry for the delay but was in sunny france!!
It was on the BBC site ... but I gather by the day concerned that the predicted temperatures had risen.
Was a bit worried in that a neighbour was looking after the house and cats and post and just before we left I got a letter from various seed companies that my spuds etc would be left by the back door ( as requested- but wasn't expecting them within the week!!!)
All fine though -although it looks like I missed out on a decent snowball fight!!
