Started cold and miserable this am, well I was up at 6.30. But although breezy it has turned into a beautiful day.

do you think the last of the frost has gone? I had planned to put my potatos in a month ago but I'm glad I didn't now. So the plan is to do it this weekend. Anyone think we will get another frost and kill them all?

If you are planting them now, they won't be up for a couple of weeks, so you should be ok - just keep them well earthed up until you are sure there won't be any more frost, spuds are tough - your crop might be a week or two late thats all.

The weather has been fab the last few days and I've caught the sun on my face already. Only problem is with no real rain for the last couple of weeks everything is looking very dry. Forecast is good for the next few days too, so lots of gardening and outdoor time. Must buy more BBQ coals.

Raining here at the moment, every day! Think its going to continue and then maybe dry but cloudy next week. I knew the sun was too good to last!

It's too windy!!!!

I am only 50 feet from the beach and the wind picks up the salt and deposits it all over the garden....it even kills bamboo!

www.shorehamweather.info - force 7 again tonight!!!

tried to edit message above, but couldnt... at last! we have 'proper' rain in SE Kent, and it feels like the kind of wet stuff that might make a difference to the ground - which is rock solid.
speaking as one who slept through the earthquake, I'm delighted to actually be seeing some weather!

I know the feeling! and you have my sympathies. Its a matter of bracing yourself and inspecting the damage in the morning unfortunately.

Well just for a change it is not actually raining, although that could all change later.

At least the garden and lottie are looking good for it but the wind is soooooooo cold today.

Hiya beach chick and "welcome back". It's actually quite pleasant here today which is just as well as I have scheduled a planting and some digging day on the lottie as Miss EB has after school club and I'm not at work today. We've had the central heating back on intermittently too. Annoying. It's the dampness and that chilly wind combined that does the damage to the spirits.

Has been lovely most of the week but we've been sooooo busy. Had planned to get to the lottie today and lo and behold it rains, quite heavily in parts and has obviously been doing so pretty much all night.

well, after days of humidity and something that might have been sunshine, only was too hazy to tell we now have most unsatisfactory rain. too wet to be out, but you can tell tis not the right sort of rain to get to the roots of things...

Definitely not right this year. Every year since Miss EB was born we have had wonderful sunshine for the first two-three weeks of June and party outside. This year - I may have to head for indoors at least for food.

After days of rain, drizzle and last night strong winds we are starting today with some sunshine. How long will that last? Got drenched on the lottie on saturday but at least the garlic is out and drying on the dining room table and not rotting in the soil.

Thoroughly hacked off with the weather. It seems to have rained here for days - maybe even weeks! The sun came out late afternoon last night for a couple of hours: I ended up being on the phone instead of utilising the time. Today it has rained on and off (mostly on!) all day and tomorrow looks set for more of the same... if not worse!!
The slugs are having a field day!

Can't believe the weather today, not too bad to start given the recent efforts, but it got so windy my growhouse was face down when I came in from a play date with Miss EB and friends, unfortunately the rain was also coming down so hard my clothes got soaked. Grrrrr!!!!!

Fortunately nothing much was damaged. I may have lost a small water melon plant but the tea tree seedlings survived as did the aubergine. The sun came out this evening and it was pleasant enough to BBQ but too late by that time.

Never mind, others have it much worse so I shouldn't complain really and on the plus side I have now potted on my tea tree seedlings.
