| We had some sun yesterday , but today normal grey skies were resumed, then a couple of real heavy downpours. The second one lasted half an hour and managed to put another 100 litres of rainwater into my IBC collection tank - all this while myself and the farmer I rent the land from sat in my shed having coffee and apple pie !!

| Still no rain. Am having to water the garden nearly every day. Today was bright and sunny, and incredibly warm. Even when it got grey around 6 tonight, it was still warm, and we sat outside for a wee tipple on the new terrace (oh don't I sound grand). Tonight it has gone flat calm, not a ripple on the loch, I can even see the fish rising here from the house. Awfuly midgy but I was working in the tunnel tonight. |

| Its many years since I fly fished for trout! But OH did come home with fresh mackerel last night so we had that for tea tonight. Today has been a mixture of fog (thick - so thick it grounded all the aircraft) and bright sunshine. Just had a lovely walk with the Aimee, the dog along the loch edge, lots of whimbrels and curlews around this year and a whooper swan with four signets. Thankfully just enough wind to keep the midges at bay. Last edited by JennieAtkinson; 05-07-2007 at 08:52 PM. |

| Yesterday was a scorcher - brilliant sunshine, clear skies, sunburn, the whole works - Maggie and Iona spent all day on Portmahomack beach. Today the weather reverted to tyoe, dull, overcast, showery and strong north westerly winds (actually, make that very strong north westerly winds)

| Last two days, dull, overcast, ocassional heavy showers, but that damn North wind is back again - taking all the heat away and trying to flatten everything (self and puppy included) in it's path. Beginning to wear me down a bit

| Bloody Hell - we had our summer today !!! Today was the first time since April that I had to open both sets of double doors on the tunnel to keep it from getting too hot. The sun shone, there was no wind to speak of, and all was well in my world.

| Glad you've had some good weather at long last Rat. Today for us was warm (15 degrees) but no sun and hill fog. It did brighten up a bit in the afternoon and out of the wind it was really quite warm. Wind is STILL in the north! Last week we had a terrible gale on Thursday and rather mixed weather during the weekend, but yesterday, Monday, absolutely torrential rain. Our guttering on the house couldn't cope with it and we had a waterfall over the front door! I drove our visitors down to the Airport, never thinking they would get their flight away, as the roads were flooding over and various parts of the land were flooded. Huge waterfalls cascaded off the hills onto the roads, the road culverts being unable to deal with it. Probably the heaviest amount of rain I have ever experienced here.

| There has been a definate "chill" in the air these last couple of days and I've noticed temperatures going down to 5 degrees at night. Although having flown to Aberdeen and back today, staggered at how warm it felt in Aberdeen, but it was quite windy! Tonight is very misty, with alot of rain.

| Hello Diana - welcome back! I thought of you when we sailed passed Eday again in the summer. My tunnel is a First Tunnels (first grade commercial) concreted into the ground with every possible bar, but Northern are pretty good too. Its pretty windy here tonight and I gather we have very strong winds forecast. I'll PM you to catch up on your news!

| Diana One word on tunnel selection. If you purchase a First Tunnel one with basr rails, it is both time consuming and difficult to retension your cover should it go slack at any time. Northern Polytunnels score on this as they just allow you to raise the hoops from inside whereas you need to pull the cover down with First Tunnels. Just worth bearing in mind - I speak from experience and know where I'll be purchasing my next tunnel.
