According to Metcheck we've got some pretty severe winds heading this way over the next couple of days. Oh great ! as I've just planted out my autumn sown broad beans !

Only a sensible person would have checked the weather first !!!

This can stop as soon as it likes ! Torrential rain, blowing a gale and freezing cold.

My poor beans.

This is just ridiculous.

More torrential rain and blowing a gale ........ again !

(why is it I only ever post the bad weather ???).

I started today by washing the inside of the big greenhouse and finished it just in time to move everything in before this lot started.

We did have a wee bit of very bright sun for about an hour and then the heavens opened !

Still I managed to get all the grow bags inside to "warm up". That'll be a joke if it snows on Monday lol but I suppose they'd still be warmer inside that out.

Rearranged both greenhouse occupants and spent the rest of the day pricking out calendula, tomatoes and chillis !

Went up to the glass merchants and ordered my vent pane, then went to the stables who ........ no longer sell straw !! ffs ! was pointed in the direction of the park manager to see if he sold it, but same answer there ! tut tut !

While looking for him though, I found a bit of the park that was just filled with Great Tits, Blue Tits and Chaffinches so I stayed a while there and watched them. Back home all the Dunnocks and Sparrows were (in great numbers) battling against the wind trying to get to the feeders before being blown into the hedge.

I'm sitting looking at the fleece over the broad beans and peas hanging on for dear life. I REALLY don't want to have to go out and put more clips on, so I hope it holds.

Exciting bit of the day though was popping into the allotments on the way to the stables and finding that I am THIRD on the list !!! It's gonna be this season !!!!! The OH was less than thrilled with the good news lol.

Am shattered now though so am going to have a quiet read of Andi Clevely just to get into practice !!

Hi Mrs KP,

Lucky you finding an allotment, I will keep my fingers crossed it is soon.

I am on the border of two councils neither of which have sites

The weather is just weird, fantastic sunshine, gale force winds, snow.

What the b***y hell is with this weather!

Roll on spring/summer or any season that has some light and dry in it.

Mandy

can't you drum up some other interested parties mandy and demand your rights ?? surely if there's an interest, they have to respond ?

Absolutely beautiful sunshine here today, which meant that the g/h plants were subjected to temps above 100o !!!! I don't dare leave either the vent or the door open as we're just as likely to have sub zero and gale force winds, ripping everything off !

just taken me 1 1/2 hours watering everything that looked as though it needed it.

still darned cold though !

It was fantastic on Saturday, unfortunatly i was not on the plot as I was putting up a new fence for father in law.

Sunday was overcast to start and then great, got more of a tan then than my recent trip to Turkey!

Today is lovley but stuck in the office

We will probably get snow by the weekend...

I am getting a bit ahead of myself, moved the toms in to unheated greenhouse at the weekend

Covered with fleece last night and they look ok this morning, maybe they should come back in for a bit..................

Grey and wet here today, MAndy

More than once!

Digging over a new bit of land and thought the rain would blow over, not a chance. Even my waterproof jacket got wet through. Time to re waterproof me thinks.

I know the summer is coming, the sun is going down halfway across the church roof at the bottom of the garden ! (usually it's been setting well to the left) but i can see grey clouds approaching from the south. hope the fleece frame around the whisky barrel (housing nasturtiums, beetroot and morning glory) holds up to impending gales.

right, that's a definite then, i'm staying south ! stuck in london atm but if there's snow lurking about i don't fancy coming back up !

didn't have time to sort the greenhouses out before i flew south, so just have to hope that the fleece is enough for the fuschias !

stay safe everyone !
