One of my favourites has to be Broad Beans. For spring sowings I use Exhibition Green Longpod. They are so simple, just put them in the ground and up they come. Don't think I've ever had a poor crop.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

grow what you and your family like to eat, no point in growing something that you dont like, for me its early pots which you cant get in the supermarkets, pink fir, etc. Runner beans cause we just love them, and i have half my plot dedicated to fruit and permanent crops asparagus, ruhbarb etc.

My favourite seed changes weekly . But at present, my fave is kohl rabbi purple or green types. They're just yummy, and easy to grow.

There is not really a seed that I don't like sowing (except those that are like dust e.g Celery and Celeriac, and require pricking out) and I am growing 37 types of veg this year. My personal faves I suppose would be cucumbers (I seem to have a midas touch with these - and grow F1 Pepinex and Femspot) and broad beans (spring sown Witkiem Manita).

My fav. seeds seem to be whatever is on the particular page of the seed catalogue I'm looking at - OH gets very worried for his credit card at THAT time of year

Two new (to me) vegs I can't wait to grow this year are chinese broccoli and french bean 'yin yang' which are the prettiest dried bean seed ever - they look like little killer whales or the yin yang symbol. Trouble is I'm supposed to wait until May to sow them........nah

My favourite has to be peas and early potatoes. Peas because they are nice and big and easy to sow, and they are a nice snack while I'm working on the lottie. Potatoes because there is nothing to beat that first few pickings of earlies, and my favourite is charlotte. With luck will be digging firs taste in three weeks time.

Just love growing onions and tomatoes. Keep trying to squeeze more and more in each year.
This year however will be different as I have lost my big garden and just have my greenhouse and containers.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
