  • Yes I know...another potato thread!!

There have been a few topics about tatties and none seem to answer my question.

I'm a big fan of baby new potatoes from the supermarket. Am I correct in thinking that I just need to harvest earlier to get them? Is there a particular variety that people would recommend?

Shopping Section?? Is that Grapes Recommendations? I searched potatoes here, 16 results and none seemed to be related to my query.

Too many sections on this forum, makes things so much more complicated than they need to be.

New potatoes are usually the early varieties which are dug up in June before the haulms have died down.

I recommend Charlotte and International Kidney (Jersey Royals).

Thanks for the response. If I want baby new potatoes do I just dig them up a week or 2 early?

I grew nicola a couple of years ago and they were a nice small potato - great for salads in summer .

You can get a variey of potato called Mimi from T&M which are bred to produce lots of small potatoes, but they're red skinned, nice though if you like 'em little

Plant your potatoes close together and harvest a couple of weeks early if you like your potatoes small.
You are best using Swift,Rocket,Maris Peer,Nicola.
