  • Yellow leaves on peas and beans

    Hi,
Recently planted out my pea and bean plants which were looking pretty healthy. Have noticed over the past few days they have become pale and yellowed on some of the plants. I've watered carefully and not done anything different. Is it just down to transplant shock? Some of them have pea shoots forming and there are quite a few flowers...

I think the 'food factories' of peas and beans do not go in for 'double shifts'. I think their lifespan is quite short as other leaves futher up the plant take over the duties.

I should just 'monitor the situation' as they say ! Cheers, Tony.

Mine went like that a couple of years ago and I was told that they don't like to be too dry and need mulching. I also don't think they like to be moved, I always grow mine in situ (after chitting to make them taste bad to mice)
Try a bit of food and mulch and see how you go.

When you planted them out, did you harden them off first?

They are sulking. As are mine... A little TLC and a firm talking to, they'll be ok.
