Went into the greenhouse after work yesterday and found aubergine looking a bit sorry, give it a drink I thought and that'll be that, got a bit closer to admire opening flowers and noticed tiny white specks all over surface of compost and yes there they were aphids, greenfly in abundance. So a quick check of toms and cucs showed no migration of the little blitters the next hour was spent with the aubergine on the patio squishing between finger and thumb. First thing after work tonight the plant was rechecked and took back to the greenhouse, job done!!! yeah right! cucumbers now under attack however infestation only light so not so bad on the clean up this time. Aphid paranoia now beginning to set in.... what if tomorrow the toms, all the sprays that i have in the garage recommend not spraying while in full flower.... they're all in flower!! Then a brainwave, last year during annual winter clean I used a sulphur candle to fumigate and not one creepie crawlie survived that overnight treatment, if any of the greenhouse crops get attacked again would using the sulphur work or am i risking effecting the plants??? or maybe there's another solution?

Just catch a few ladybirds and pop them on the plant/s.
We did that today to an aubrey that had the same, and by the time I left school one had hoovered one leaf completely clear and was on it's way to the top of the plant for another and was busy on the top leaf as I left.

Sulphur candles should be used AFTER your growing season I'm afraid. Insecticidal soap maybe or soapy water.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

Yer I wouldn't use one of those if I was you think your would fill the gh with sulphur dioxide with isn't a gas plants like very much you would essentially suffocate them..My year log of growthhttp://http://backgardenfarm.blogspot.com/

Very much agree with don't use a candle when you have plants in there.
I hang plenty of the sticky yellow traps in the GH and find this is a great help.

Actually, this has given me an idea. If you've seen my postings in the "What I Did Today" thread, you'll have seen my netted frames for my brassica's. I know they'll keep the pigeons off, and I hope they will keep the cabbage whites off, but I knew that it wouldn't deter the white fly. If I hung some fly paper or something else sticky inside the frames though and tapped the plants to make the flies fly about, then hopefully a lot will get stuck on the stickies.
