    Will My Carrot Plugs Work?

    Before anyone rolls their eyes and goes "I can't believe she actually spent good money on carrot plugs after all that kerfuffle in the news, crazy woman that she is" I was given these free and free is always good

    I am now an owner of approximately 60+ Early Nantes carrot plugs but I was always under the impression that carrots hate being transplanted. Will these work? Is there a particular technique I could use to get them into the ground?

    I thought I may as well give them a go as my carrot seeds in the lottie are still warm and toasty under the soil and earlier carrots have to be a good thing...maybe!

    What I have done with both carrots & P****ps is bored a 12" hole in the beds with an old piece of 2.5" plastic drain pipe (this pulls a plug of soil out), filled the holes with seived compost & put the plugs/ loo rolls into the holes.

      No harm in trying, I always reckon a forked carrot is still edible, not that my carrots ever germinate

          Yeah I think I will - at least it will look like something is growing in my new lottie

          I was also given free onions and will use those to line my flower beds as no more space for those on the plot - can never have enough onions!

            Get em in the deck.
            They dont really like being transplanted apparently, some of mine are also grown early in loo rolls and then transplanted out (not really transplanted I guess) but even if they fork.... so what? You arent growing them to show I guess, just to eat.

              I didn't know they forked when transplanted, I thought they keeled over and died - now I know it is a lot less dramatic I don't mind so much as they all taste the same weird, rude and normal carrots alike
