  • Wilko's Update

Not sure where this should go so please feel free to move. Just called into Wilkos whilst in town. Their shelves are looking good, good variety of seeds, onion sets, herbs, potato seeds, along with the usual stock of trays etc. Thought I'd better buy something while there so got 3kgs maris piper for £2.98.

Just typical - I can't get to Wilkinsons today - we had 9 inches of snow overnight and I could hardly get the door open this morning (it opens outwards) let alone get down the hill.
Hopefully I will be able to get into town tomorrow - I can't wait to see what they've got on offer.

Oh good. Our Wilkinsons had a whole half shelf of gardening stuff before Christmas. Hope they've woken up now - need to go into town to check, but to cold today.

Homebase in Portsmouth are selling potatoes, artichokes, garlic and onion along with the usual suspects.
B&Q Have the above plus asparagus and rhubarb and something else I can't remember. (all about £2 odd a pack)
Oh and both are selling pear, apple, plum (I think), apricot and cherry trees for under £10

The other half proclaimed to ‘die a little inside’ when he saw all the bits I bought =P, mainly as we’re running out of room and I’ve taken over the conservatory with my plants lol.

Wilkinsons has recently opened up along the road from me (1 month ago), really need to get there to have a look at what they've got

On a side note - can anyone suggest the best place to get a soil ph tester? Tried B&Q and Dobbies but neither have one
                What would Delia do?

It all depends what you are looking for but I got one of these for about £2 last year from wilkos.

I heard that my local Wilkinsons have just put all the seed potatoes, onion & shallot sets out this week. I was going to go in and get everything I needed, but guess what? It's snowing yet again! 4 inches has settled since 5pm tonight and it's still snowing heavily.

Don't know now when I'll be able to get there. Only consolation is that everyone else will be in the same boat as me so I should still get a good choice of stuff when I do manage it!
