Is this wild garlic?

    Is this wild garlic?

    Evening everyone.

    We got given some "wild garlic" by a friend today, but I'm not convinced that's what it is.

    The stem is triangular, like three cornered leek but the petals don't have the slight green stripe on the inside. Could it be field garlic or crow garlic? You will see in the pictures below that there are little bulbils on top where the flowers were. It smells more of onion/leek but with a faint garlicy hint.

    I'm confused

    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
    If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

    I should add that it is way bigger than I have ever seen wild garlic.

    Maybe a foot to 14 inches at its biggest point.

    Quite pale by comparison too

      Wild garlic flowers are balls of star shaped flowers like leeks and onions and have a broad leaf.

        It looks like Ramsons to me (wild garlic) but I've never seen it with bulbils...
        As far as size is concerned, you can get absolutely get wild garlic of the size you mention. In suitably shady conditions in a woodland, it is positively lush.
        If you want to see honest-to-God wild garlic, go to Pitmedden House, and walk back from the carpark to the little patch of woodland in front of the house, off to the left. That is absolutely full of it - there's virtually no other ground cover, Pitmedden is hoaching with it.
        If you ever find a way to transplant it without it dying, please let me know - I've always killed any plants I've been given !

          Its not ransoms/wild garlic, nor is it 3 cornered leek. I'm sure I recognise it though - give me some time

              I'm sure it's not wild garlic as I used to pick it back down in Greenock and the flowers are different to the ones in Mothhawk's pic above.

              Looks like there is one bell shaped flower per stem which then turn to little bulbils with more stems/flowers growing from them.

                          I don't think so Mothhawk. Looked at images online and didn't look like any of them.

                          The flowers are vaguely the same shape, but extend from a bulbous cluster.
