  • Wilco, (again!!) Rhubarb

    Hi all,

My wilcos Victoria rhubabr was sprouting so I have planted it up in a large pot to hopefully keep alive. I also bought a Red Canadian variety from them which is doing nothing so far. It just looks like a lump of dead wood but I potted it up anyway Is this RC plant ok or have I just my Victoria to look forward to???

    Regards,

    Graham

I too bought one of each last week & put them in rotted horse muck in pots but I was lucky to have both plants sprouting. I would leave them & see what happens, the only way you will lose is if you decide to throw it away. Most threads on the vine suggest that it is difficult to kill rhubarb.

I had Red Canadian from Wilko about 5 years ago, it grew, well, no, it sort of hung on for the first year, and it has managed 2 sticks every year since, but certainly not enough to pick! This is despite having a feed twice a year of well-rotted cow.... and plenty of water. So, it's now back to the cheap, but v. reliable, seed-grown Victoria!!
