  • Why does the Spinach I have grown taste like grass?

I have grown it before and I can't remember it tasting like grass. I am wondering why it tastes like grass now. The flavour is also very strong and long lasting. Is it safe to eat still? Does anyone know why it tastes like grass?

Is it actual spinach, or leafbeet?

I know that true spinach doesn't like hot weather, perhaps it goes bitter like lettuce does in the heat

I think it is perpetual spinach, when I grew it before the weather was a bit hotter. I think this time I have left it to grow a lot longer.

Mine has a very grassy/earthy taste as well and I am sure it was not like that last year so perhaps it is the heat as suggested!
If it ain't broke...fix it til it is!

Are you picking the outer/larger leaves ??
          They are tough and bitter

.....more worrying is that you know what grass tastes like!!!
