I har found a white spots on the leaves on my courgetter plants and a few leaves have turned yellow. The plant is producing well thou?

Yep to mildew I get it with great regularity but it does not seen to interfere with the crop.

The leaves on mine were white (from mildew) last year but I had a lovely courgette from it, maybe 2 (can't remember), my leaves are far much better this year, a lovely green, but only now are the plant showing signs of producing fruit.Comment

My courgettes always have some white splotches on their leaves. If it was powdey mildew, wouldn't it rub off? I have always thought it was just a charactistic of the plant, not something to worry about. My courgettes have always produced well (except in the current heatwave)Comment

Some courgette plants do have regular white spots on the leaves. I find powdery mildew makes the leaves first go dusty looking, then go brown and crispy starting round the edges. They might produce a few courgettes while this is happening but the plants inevitably die quite quickly once affected. It almost always seems to happen after the plants have been blown about in the wind, presumably drying them out - pot grown plants are particularly prone to this (I have one showing signs of it today after a breezy weekend).Last edited by Penellype; 05-08-2013, 08:57 PM.A life is like a garden. Interesting, my plants were much more sheltered this year, down below the tomatoes and they had lovely green leaves. Last year the plant was well exposed and the leaves were near white!!Originally posted by Penellype View Post

Some varieties I've grown end up with white marks and veins but I don't think I've had any that have actually had powdery mildew... if they're still fruiting I wouldn't worry too much.
You could take off the yellow leaves just to help the air circulation around the plant though - might be beneficial. : )Comment
