  • Where has all the spent mushroom compost gone?

Some years ago I used spent mushroom compost to good effect to improve a garden that had hard clay soil. I have a new plot with similar soil but I haven't seen an ad for spent mushroom compost for sale in ages

Does anyone know if farms have stopped selling direct or if anyone might have some to sell near me in Lincs, Leics, Notts....Thanks

I found a supplier on eBay last year and had 35 bags delivered no problem A search should find the seller, they're still on there.

Out of interest how many litres was that? Don't think I could fit 35 bags in my hilly front garden, but would love to feed the soil abit

Gosh, erm.... The bags were about 60 litres I think (that's a rough guesstimate though!)

If you search ebay for 'mushroom compost' at least one supplier will pop up and they sold it in a few different ways (bags and bulk loose delivery) so they might do it in a way to suit you

CPL distribution also do home delivery of bags of manure and soil improver in 3 bag lots I think, they have depots all over the country

CPL are the coal merchants we use and they have diversified into selling composts so that they have something to do in the spring/summer when nobody's buying solid fuel. I've always found them very reliable.
