Default Where can I buy potatos now to grow?

Hi There,

I am very new to this forum, but have been growing vegetables for the past couple of years in a small plot in the back garden. However, I have just managed to get a large allotment and amongst other things want to get some Desiree potatos planted.

I may be a bit late but but can't seem to find them anywhere - do any of you know where I may be able to source some?

Thank you Helen

Hello Helen, welcome to the grapevine. I'm afraid I can't really help much but I think if it were me I would type Disiree seed potatoes into google and I'm sure that will be able to help you

Alan Romans' May newsletter had the following - it might not be too late yet:
Quote:
Seed potatoes. I have just withdrawn all normal season varieties from the
site. We do have some left but quantity and quality is declining too fast
to keep up with the situation well enough to give the service we aspire to
on site. There is still plenty of time to plant and if any of our
customers are without seed and prepared to be flexible about variety
choice I would advise phoning us on 01337831060 – we will find something
for you up to the end of the month
.

I know this will meet with some disapproval but you'll get them in the supermarket. See if you can find a Scottish grower. They'll be disease free.

Default Buying Potatoes

Alice
I agree. In the past when I have had a short row I have bought supermarket potatoes and they have grown a treat.
But don't tell Alan Roman!!

We got ours really late (April) from Garden Organic website. They still had Desiree and Cosmos potatoes left. Might be worth checking out!
