  • When can plants go to cold frame?

    Hello!

I have a small cold frame. When can I put tomato seedlings and chillis in there? They don't get much light in my house unfortunately as its a dark mid terrace.

Can they go out in cold frame during the day and be brought back in at night now? Or can they go in cold frame long term now or still too cold?

Same question for my courgettes which are taking up a fair bit of room on my Tiny dark windowsill!

I'm sure the light would do them the world of good but is it still too cold?

    Thanks!

I'm taking my chillies and toms to the greenhouse every day. They are both tender - the toms ideally should be in temps no lower than 10c and the chillies 12c. They will be fine in the cold frame during the day but don't forget to bring the back in for the night. It will be a while before you can do that safely. Keep checking the weather forecast I usually start leaving my toms in the GH over night end of April.
As for the courgette, that's probably similar. I haven't started mine yet.
