  • when can i move/dig up rhubarb?

Kinda same question as last post but this time its for my rhubarb! Weve recently bought a new house & i was wondering when i can dig up my rhubarb crown? This rhubarb is the only one ever to grow for me & came from my (late) grandads allotment so i would LOVE to be able to take it with me & replant it at our new house.

    Any help/tips appreciated.

    Thanks

They are starting to sprout so go for it quickly...

yups dig it up and then leave it on top of the ground to let the frost get at it for a while before you replant

It's reckoned to encourage the plant to grow well when replanted.

of course, we'd need a frost for that... you might be getting frosts up north, but they've been pretty few and far between my way so far... Thanks for the advice too, I have inherited a plot with a clump of rhubarb about 2m x 2m, and possible more along the plot boundary but I would have to shift a skip's worth of rubbish to find it....

I have just dug up mine and moved it, so its perfect now - whilst its asleep.
