  • what's left on your plot?

Well, we're into November and the main growing season is over. On top of that we had some real autumn weather at the weekend in the shape of heavy rain and gales. I was wondering what crops other grapes have still got growing that they could put towards a meal. In the veg. patch I still have:
    beetroot
    carrots
    celery
    leeks
    lettuce (winter)
    parsnip
    radish (winter)
    swedes

in tubs in the unheated greenhouse there's more salad leaves, baby carrots, spring onions, pak choi and herbs.

I bet Snadger has every square inch of ground still covered in huge vegetables

Well, apart from the selection of bareroot brassicas I planted last month (which won't crop til the spring now I suspect), I have...

    Red Kale
    Leeks
    Horseradish
    Carrots
    Parsnips
    Beetroots
    Swede
    Pak Choi
    Ruby Chard
Tomatoes (must pull those up and ripen indoors)
    Autumn Raspberries
    Undercover: Chillies, sweet peppers, aubergines

Potatoes, tons of Jerusalem Artichokes, some kind of brassica that we both failed to label and is now a mystery plant. Indoors, chilies and soft herbs.
      I don't roll on Shabbos

No bare soil apart from 1/4 of one bed which I ran out of time replanting last week. Mixture of all the above apart from radishes [bleugh]; and have sown broadies and inside beans at the weekend.

I don't see it as the main growing season being over, I see it as the tender growing season being over; it just moves into hardy crops now. And I still have courgettes growing.

God, seeing what you guys and girls still have in, I'm Jealous, all I have left is
                      - About 20 spring onions,
                      - All my runner beans, with some still on, but getting few and far between now, will soon come up
                      - 60 Pepper plants, the other 16 have been transferred to pots for over wintering
                      - 300 Asperagus seeds in the ground, but couple years away from coming up
                      - 82 Garlic cloves just gone in, for next years crop
                      - Lemon Balm
                      - 2 Huge Ginger roots - with the stalks about 2ft high

Will Pak Choi grow in a gree house through the winter then? In a Greenhouse? In pots or in the ground?

Swiss chard ( cropping at the moment)

                        perpetual spinach (still small)

In the veg garden I only have:

Jerusalem artichokes - not dug any up yet.
parnips - only just started pulling them.
Young lettuces, 2sheds assures us they are very hardy!
Kale, cabbage ready to pick when I need it.
Other brassicas ready next spring onwards.
Onions and garlic gone in and are up and doing well.
Leeks - just started pulling them too.

                          Think that's about it.

                            Rhubarb soon to go in
Herbs (Lemon Balm, Mint, Thyme, Rosemary, Parsley, Chives, Russian Tarragon)

Chilli is inside, now. No bare earth here, either. Not sure where the rhubarb will go, yet!
