What tomatoes are we growing in 2012?

You cannot let a year go by without growing "Brandywine". It is a large beefsteak tomato and has superb flavour. A couple of thick slices fried with garlic on a bit of toast, sets you up for the day.

There is also a variety called Apricot Brandywine, but I don't think this is as good as the original. Why not grow some tom's specifically for pasta sauce? San Merino is a cracker. Cheers, Tony.

I try all sorts of tomatoes but the one that I always grow regardless is Gardener's Delight. It just seems to work for me. Ripens quickly, because the fruit are small, is prolific, thin skins and a wonderful taste. I eat them like cherries.
I don't have much luck with the larger tomatoes as they take longer to ripen but I do love having a big tomato for cooking. Maybe I'll try Brandywine as recommended by Kleftiwallah (and welcome to you).
The plum tomatoes are not to my taste although I grew Roma this year. Not sure yet what else I'll grow this year.

As usual I'll be growing Black Cherry, Carlton and Piccolo from saved seed, and Rio Grande from Seeds of Italy for pasta.

Thats the plan - BUT a few others are bound to make it into seed trays as well

My usual Sungold in the GH, plus Tumbler in hanging baskets though not so many as last year

Encouraged by what I have read here on the vine I shall venture into the unknown with Box Car Willy and Blackcherry.

The old standby's Alicante and Roma with Tumbling Tom in hanging baskets plus at least two others. I try new varieties each year but was very disappointed with black cherry this year. Prolific cropper but I found the skins tough.

Had to cut my toms down this year due to disease....so as they were greenhouse ones, I am gonna try some outdoor ones for cooking, and only acouple indoors for salads. Probably sungold for indoors, although I would appreciate any recommendations on the outdoor ones please.

Try marmande outdoors. Lovely large beefsteak. I had a crop from seed early on and grew on 6 armpits. Just plonked them in the ground once they were established in pots and off they went giving a great crop. 5 star recommendation.

I've tried them a couple of times and had poor results....soil and location must make such a difference

Hmmm I thought I posted to this thread yesterday but it's gone.

I'll be growing Cederico for showing and also trialling a variety called Cristal. For a small fruited variety I'll be growing Tomatoberry (gorgeous to look at and superb taste.) and for the kitchen Alicante. Noticed in T&M's catalogue they have a blight resistant one for baskets and of course there is already Ferline which I think I'm correct in saying is blight resistant.
