Elsanta bought from Lidl. I've planted them in a good sized hexagonal container & put them out on my decking they look really healthy at the moment (touch wood).

I managed to get the free Elsanta strawberries on offer with the Daily Mail last week at Homebase then yesterday went to Aldi and got Christine,Honeyoye and Red Gauntlet. I would have liked to have tried Mae but couldn't find any at the 2 Aldi stores in the area.
I have some Alice and Marshmallow which I bought at Hampton Court and Gardeners World live . Has anyone grown Christine I wondered what they were like.

I've got Honeyoye and Elsanta, both lots were free. I've never grown strawberries before, so I have no preference so far ;o)

Marshmello in the garden - dunno what the new allotment ones are though. I shall taste-test them this summer!

I've never grown strawberries before but this year I've got some Alpine Baron Solenmacher seeds, which I'm starting off in the mini-propagator. According to the packet they're:

                        easy to grow - check!
compact and good for containers - check!
                        particularly winter hardy - check!
delicious small berries - check check check!

                        So fingers crossed

I've never grow strawberries before either, but I'm thinking of growing alpine ones around the bases of my raspberries, since alpines seem to be the easiest, from what I've read (although none of them are difficult - however, it seems that alpines self-seed readily if you leave a few fruit unpicked, so you can just pull up each year's plants in the autumn, and will get new plants from seed the following year, which sounds nice and straightforward to me. That's what one of my books says, anyway.)

I'm growing Alice and Christine here, I think Christine is the sweetest of the two though.

I am trying to grow alpines also, they are in the propogator but seem to be very small and take an age growing
