  • What to put where? Newbie help required!

We are in the process of setting up our first vegetable patch.

Were using raised beds and the sizes are as follows:

    Bed A - 4 feet x 4 feet
    Bed B - 5 feet x 5 feet
    Bed C - 6 feet x 3 feet
    Bed D - 8 feet x 3 feet

We are hoping to have it finished this weekend and want to grow the following:

Carrots, Potatoes, Lettuce, Radish, Onions, Spinach, Mung Beans and Pumpkins (which are currently in the greenhouse).

I wondered whether there is any method to planting veg - do certain vegetables do better with more room? or planted with other particular types of veg?

Any suggestions on what I should plant in which bed?

I also have a patch of mint and a chive plant that I want to put in to one of the raised beds and create a herb bed (I have parsley, corriander and basil in the greenhouse that I was going to put in the herb bed too).

Any ideas? I dont really know where to start !!

    Thanks in advance.

As JackieJ suggests, but she mentions 3 beds, and you have 4. You need to do some kind of crop rotation (Google it if you're unsure).
This helps to avoid pest & disease buildups.
      I have four beds too.
      Bed A: beans & peas
      B: brassicas
      C: roots & spuds
      D: onions & garlic

you may wish to devote a section of your biggest bed to permanent herbs (they need a sunny position)
