  • What to plant along/up my shed wall?

I have an area of dead space alongside the wall of my shed. I'm thinking of fixing some wire along it and growing something or other that climbs. Thing is, it faces due east, so won't get huge amounts of sunlight.

I quite fancy the idea of summer-fruiting raspberries (I have autumn-fruiting ones elsewhere on my plot), but I have a feeling the spot isn't sunny enough.

Any thoughts about what I could grow?

Runner beans do ok in shadier areas and look great growing up a shed.

I grow autumn fruiting raspberries against a north facing wall and they are fine - not sure about the summer sort as I have not grown these. You could grow blackberries, which are fine in shade, or maybe one of the hybrid types.

Gooseberries do ok in shade and can be grown as cordons against a wall.

Don't have a brain storm like I did and plant trailing nasturtiums...and then go on hols for 2 weeks.
When we got back the shed looked like it had grown a 6ft orange and green skirt

They'd have looked great going UP the shed...but horizontal growing was never mentioned!
