  • What have you sown/planted?

Yesterday and today was the first time I've really spent useful time in the garden since November last year. I really felt that at last there was a feeling of spring - buds, daffodils peeking through, snowdrops on display .... this time last year I had already planted broad bean seeds, lobelia for hanging baskets, some peas, aubergines, chillis and some tomatoes (albeit under cover and in heat! but don't feel confident planting anything yet. What have you been planting/sowing?

I keep THINKING about it but my sum total is the garlic I planted in October, and some early potatoes chitting in the porch.

I have decided to wait until March to start anything! I always feel way behind when I read what other folks on here have been up to, but I don't have a greenhouse and feel that waiting works best for me in my situation. My crops may be a little later than those which are starting now, but most catch up pretty well in the end, and I don't lose any due to cold snaps etc. (Well, apart from the huge amount that the slugs devour, but hey ho - this year I'm going to try using bran to tackle that particular problem....).

I have started some chilli seeds in the kitchen, but that's it for now.

This year I decided to do an experiment to see if the crops I started early can grow this early. I have planted
                    Garlic, nothing yet
                    Parsley doing well
                    Chillies good
                    Turnips v well
                    Raddish v well
                    Thyme very well
                    Rosemary (cuttings) nothing
                    Rhubarb (seeds) nothing
                    lettuce good
I want to see if I can get something to eat off them before the normal time
Updated my blog on 13 January

I've just planted some bulbs and I'm eyeing up the bag of gladiolus as we speak. Just put 50-odd lupin seeds in a tray and was feeling pretty good about it until I saw everyone elses lists!!
Oh! But I have got about 10 chilli seedlings on the go. There, I have done something.
