  • What is the difference......

Between a grafted plant and non grafted plant?

I know I could look this up on the web, but I rather have your opinions.

A non-grafted plant is just a plant growing on its own roots.
With a grafted plant the top part has been grafted onto the roots of another plant - sometimes a different type of plant completely. In theory its done to give you the best bits of each.

Many things such as fruit trees will not come true to type if grown from seed. If you want another Golden Delicious apple tree you take some wood from an existing tree and graft it onto an existing root stock. All the Bramley apple trees in the world derive from one original tree grown over 200 years ago.
