What brand seeds do you use and why?

I think most growers use lots of different ones, depending who has offers on, who stocks the varieties they like, and any ethical considerations such as wanting organic/open-pollinated/heirloom. Personally, at any given time, my seed box has: T&M, Mr Fothergills, Organic Catalogue, Real Seeds, Heritage Seed Library, Tuckers, Robinsons, self-saved, other-Grape-saved, Midland Seeds, Amishland Seeds, Graines Baumaux... -

I've whittled out 90% of my seeds. I have 2 T&M packets, the rest are from pennard seeds (particular squash I wanted), and real seeds. I have a couple from swaps too, but that's it now. I've been ruthless - had stuff for years that I hadn't sown.Comment

Tend to have mostly Thomson and Morgan, but there are a few packets of various different companies that have come from magazine covers or if I wanted a certain variety. I usually get Thomson and Morgan only because that's the main company that my local garden centre stocksComment

Many different ones and a good few from Trade Wind Fruits (an American website that I used last year that has a good selection of different names)I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Two in reality:
Seeds of Distinction as I found them and they did a lot of varieties of each veg. Will say they seem to have reduced the number of varieties of each veg.
Moreveg, good selection and they do seeds in smaller amounts, which suits me better as having 250 turnips is little use whereas 50, at a lower cost, is more sensible.Comment

I rarely buy any from the mainstream suppliers as there are so many good small companies who offer high quality at much better prices. Just Seed, Nicky's Nursery and Premiere Seeds Direct are three I like to support.
Having said that, I never turn down special offers or freebies on magazine covers!Comment

Nicky's Nursery, chileseeds.co.uk, and T&M are my main ones. But I'll buy any brand selling the seeds I want at any given time. A couple of years ago I bought a variety of squash off a company trading on eBay; none of the mainstream companies offered it.Comment

Have tried a lot over the years, but my current favourite is Dobies of Devon, mostly because they sell 2 varieties of blight resistant tomatoes we like, Apero cherry toms and Giulietta plum toms, so we just tag any other requirements on to that order. Germination rates seem better than anyone else's, or maybe I'm just a better gardener now!! If I want anything special that Dobies don't sell, we shop around the sites everybody's mentioned above.Are y'oroight booy?Comment

Orr allotment shop sells Kings seeds and more recently Franchi. Others in my seed box will be free with the GYO mag! I do have to get particular squash seeds on-line (BNS Avalon) as we don't stock them in the shop and they are F1.....I have saved a few seeds just to see what fruits they do actually produce this year....mystery squash time!Comment
