I have inherited a shed with my new plot and have only just found the time to investigate it. Inside I have just found a week killer container/sprayer (it is empty) all in one - a well known make. I know they are quite expensive to buy so just wanted to make good use of the sprayer. Has anyone tried re-filling with weed killer and used theirs again? It seems to have been an exceptional year for weeds and I can't keep up with them so am afraid I need to get the weed killer out.

I'm afraid I don't agree with weed killer esp when there are crops already in the ground. But in answer, yes - you can reuse it.

zazen999, I agree usually , but my next door neighbour has an allotment full of weeds about waist high and they are seeding all over my plot so need to take measures before I get to the stage of screaming and doing him some damageSlowly takes it!Comment

If the weeds next door are waist high Lesley, does that mean your neighbour doesn't grow on his plot at the moment? Weed killer would definitely be a last resort for me. The only time one has been used on my garden was by the man who used to cut the lawn and he only used it inbetween the paving stones on the paths. I think I'd be more tempted to spray the weeds next door

Yes I know what you meen. My neighbour has been growing weeds for some time. The committee has tried removing him after countless weedy letters. He makes a little bit of a effort after a weedy letter and has up to now managed to keep his plot.Slowly takes it!Comment

That must be very frustrating for you when you're trying to cope with his weeds! Let's hope he gets really tired of weeding and weedy letters and gives up

Watch it doesn't spray / drift all over your/the other neighbours plots when you do it!
I'd probably just strim the lot down and leave them in a heap for him to sort out.Comment

I have no problem with a glyphosate based weedkiller to get things under control. There are strong feelings about the issue though with some people.Comment

So are you planning on spraying his or yours? Are yours that bad that you can't hoe em off? I only ask because you could spray yours but then if his are still there they will just continue to cause a problem, so you'll just have to spray again.
I sympathize with you having a weedy neighbour. Our neighbour always has loads of dandelions in between his fruit bushes despite having weed suprressant down. You never get rid of weeds entirely no matter how neat your neighbours are. Our neighbours on the other side have had theirs years and there are periods throughout the season where they have loads of weeds, but they still manage to grow loads of produce. I'm not saying don't tackle them, just don't stress about getting every last one.Comment

Spraying mine. I am only going to do this as a last resort. Thanks to those understaning people. I don't make a habit of of using lots of weed killers but sometimes ........
I think he will be seen off by September this year.

I do use glypho selectively and sparingly. I'll be doing the neighbour's bindweed next week: he hoes his off eventually, but it still creeps onto my plot from his side, and pulling it out for 4 years hasn't done anything. It's now all growing up my French beans
