  • we have a cauliflower!

I planted some cauliflower plants in the spring, I didn't really expect much from them as they where mostly packed into a corner. Except one that wouldn't fit, this particular specimen became a sacrificial lamb, the plant the was unprotected. Exposed to the pests, winds, sun and birds.
Guess which plant has flourished, and has a whopper of a head in the middle.
The protected ones are no where near as impressive, strange times.

Well done Sam. I bet when you harvest your cauli it will taste fantastic.

Never been able to grow them myself as they always seem to bolt but you look like a natural at it.

Maybe the crazy coloured ones next year?

I think I've just been lucky with a long, wet, cool spring.
Now it's warming up the beds had some melons put in it, we will see just how natural I am if they grow lol.
Multicolored cauliflower... oh God yes, looks like I'm buying more seeds, again...

Had pretty much the same experience. Planted some 'over wintering' caulis in late autumn 2014, checked them frequently and decided a couple of weeks ago they were c**p. Went up to the plot yesterday to dig and compost. First one out had a 2.5lb head of cauli, 2nd one 4lb, 3rd one 4.6lb head. Couldn't make it up! and I have NO idea what I'm going to do with them.........and I have still another 4 to check................I love the way nature throws a spanner in the works every now and again.

Any receipes - other than cauli cheese gratefully received

Had one head so fat, blinked and it bolted. Still tasted nice though

He's a whopper, problem is the little caterpillars that are inside... pesky things. I think I washed them all out but I'm not sure. How they got under the net I will never know.
