Hello there gardening enthusiasts, i was wondering if anyone knows if it is warm enough to leave my chilli seedlings/plants outside at night now, they have been going out for the day for a week or two now. I live in London UK, i hear night temps are dropping to 13-15, is this warm enough for the plants? Please if someone could help, my plants are not feeling to great as it is and i do not want to put them out to early but i am having trouble making space for them all home.

Ours have been in the poly for a few weeks now. Are yours going outside or in a greenhouse? Either way anything above 10 degrees should be fine. Ours go out beginning of June(undercover) regardless of night time temps as we could still get a sub 10 degree drop some point this month and we can't wait forever. Chuck em out. -
They should be fine outside now .I have had some in a cold frame for about 4 weeks and a friend has had them just on her patio.London is always warmer too.Gardening forever, housework whenever!Comment

I've had some out on patio for few weeks now, and I'm just in Kent, am soon going to move them up to Plot. Weather is just right for them at the moment!DottyRComment

I've had mine out for a week now, no room in greenhouse. They look fine but have not put on much weight.......hope it's all going on underneath! Am tempted to dig one up and put on the end of the kitchen table to see how it gets on......Comment

Chillies will tolerate temperatures as low as 10 but the perfect growing and fruiting conditions should be 15 or more. Cayennes will fruit ok with lower night time temperatures but if you are growing super hots I'd bring them in for bedtime. I would only grow the super hots undercover, they really need the heat to produce well.Comment

I keep thinking about putting them out to the polytunnel, but they're making very slow progress in the kitchen, both chillies and tomatoes. I suppose they'd have more sunshine in the tunnel and that might make them push on a bit. Anyway, your thread has got me thinking about it.My hopes are not always realized but I always hope (Ovid)

Mine have been put out for the last couple of days on one of those slug repellant mat thingies (but brought in at night). Seems less faffing about to let the pollinators do their work instead of me fiddling around with a soft paintbrushComment
