Default Virtual Vegetable Show 2008

Don't know if this is the right place to post, but maybe the mods will move it and answer my previous questions. ARE WE HAVING A VEGETABLE SHOW THIS YEAR???? Thoroughly enjoyed last years, and looking forward to another one. I don't mind if we don't have real prizes, just looking forward to entering and seeing what everyone else has managed to grow. How does everyone else feel??

Funnily enough, was just wondering the same thing while I was picking stuff earlier. Was wondering whether I should start taking piccies now on the off chance that I might be able to enter something - it usually takes me a lot of attempts to get a half decent picture as I'm particularly incompetent with cameras!

Count me in, it is brilliant to see everyone else's produce. I think we might be in the running for most flattened by the wind veggies

I posted this question a while ago Rustylady. Shortie said she would take it up with the powers that be but no word since.
I think everyone was eager to do it again and agreed there was no need for real prizes. I do hope it will go ahead but could the categories be anounced soon. I think some of us are eating our best stuff.

I have reminded the GYO staff of Shortie's query.

I think the nightmare of getting the suppliers to cough up the promised prizes might have put admin off. If we were happy to have Virtual Prizes for the Virtual Veg Show it would be less hazardous for poor old Dave.

Just a recognition post for the winners would seem fine to me - or perhaps Ben (or whoever) could create a "winner" banner which any winners could have on their posts for the next month (or even year). Just an idea!

Or a winners certificate E mailed to the winners of each class that you could download and save.

Default I'm in Total Agreement.....

Snadger's completely BRILLIANT idea of a Virtual Vegetable Show, came to actual fruition, just how fabulous was THAT?!

GROW YOUR OWN valiantly took his idea on board, and actually ran MUCH further with his idea than any of us could have hoped for, and with having done that, gave us all a magnificent boost to grow our stuff even better than we would have done in the first place, in my mind....

Personally, I agree with what has just been said in it's entirety.

The absolute headache for GYO Admin surely mustn't be allowed to happen again, but I DO think that the T&M Vouchers are an EXCELLENT prize, and surely, much much easier to admin and distribute?, especially given that a lot of gorgeous peeps on this forum are living abroad?

Vouchers are really, really useful, and I know some of it goes on postage, but hey, there's no such thing as A Free Lunch in life, eh?!

I would love to enter again this year, if the competition is still going to happen.

BRING IT ON!...........

I won a T&M voucher for a Top Tip, and swapped it for three of these beauties: http://plants.thompson-morgan.com/pi...ias/4/4148.jpg

Oh, how lovely Sheds....
I keep leafing through the catalogue and can't make my mind up for my Top Tip Voucher - too much to chose from!

I was thinking of spending my voucher on garlic - are T&M good for garlic, or should I stick with Plan A and get it from the isle of wight??

this is a great idea, a winners banner for the current year, the prizes last year were a lovely idea but must have been a real nightmare (p.s where are the caddies Sainsbury's????) admittedly the T&M voucher and free seeds was very much appreciated.

Banners or rosettes would do me fine. I'm going to start taking piccies when I can find the camera that my daughter borrowed.

Looking forward to the VVS if it goes ahead this year. Was great fun last year, and with so many new members, competition is bound to be more ferocious
Bring it on !!
On the subject of competitions, does anyone have access to a NVS Judges handbook - wanna know what they look for in cucumber exhibits as I have been persuaded that I should eneter the Sutherland County Show in a fortnights time.
