  • Vermiculite?

Anyone have any idea if there is any difference between horticultural vermiculite, and vermiculite sold as insulation / flu liner. The reason I ask is the flu liner type is a a lot cheaper than the horticultural type. If they are the same mineral (which I suspect they are) why on earth is everyone paying for "horticultural grade"

    Hi and welcome.
The insulation stuff is bigger chunks. I put it through an old kitchen processor when I need smaller pieces Makes lovely pastry too (only joking!)

Just for info, horticultural Vermiculite bags of 5 litres brand is 'In the Garden with Charlie Dimmock' in Poundland for .............. you guessed it .......... £1

Now any comments I'm a skin-flint are entirely justified.

Went and got another bag this afternoon after realising that it was very cheap and I should really of realised last week when I bought it, they have about a dozen bags left in my local Poundland at the moment.
