    is there a list of such veg. thanks.

    also i have read in a book that grocers garlic is fine to plant but elsewhere i read that it should be from a garden center.......?

      Depends where you are and what the temp/light conditions are. Too cold to plant anything where I am. I'm keen but I'm not going to dig through frozen soil to plant garlic.

          I've planted both- with very similar results.
          Just make sure the grocer's ones are firm and show no signs of sprouting or mould

          Do you mean veg plants to plant out now- to seeds to sow????

            The problem with grocer's garlic is that you don't know where it's come from. I read somewhere that some of the southern mediterranean varieties are not too happy with the British climate and don't do so well.

              I've always had better results with supermarket garlic than with the expensive seed garlic. Go figure.
