  • Which Veg belongs to which family

Hey this is prob a newbie question but here goes...

I have seen a seed sowing chart on here before but is there one to say which family all the different veg belong to? This would help greatly for anyone starting crop rotations (ie me!)

For example which family does a pumpkin belong to?

Pumpkin is a squash I do believe, like Courgette.

Other families are like Brassicas (cauli, broc, cabbage). What are you growing this year?

Pumpkin is a cucurbit and belongs to the 'Other and Odd's and Sod's' family!

I put my squash in the space vacated by early potatoes (in June).

Plus anywhere else I can squeeze them in ... they don't have a dedicated plot of their own in my crop rotation.

The brassica family is huge - it also includes most oriental greens such as pak choi, mizuna, mibuna, tatsoi, komatsuna and mustard greens (but not chopsuey greens, which is a chrysanthemum and therefore related to lettuce).
