  • Upside down tomato planters

I was given two for Christmas.
They had Garden Pearl tomato seeds.
I propogated about 10 seeds OK
The bags seemed to take a lot of compost to fill them.
Not wanting to waste space I popped one in the top and bottom of each bag.
Of the ones in the bottom , one tried for a bit but died off, the other produced a few toms but looks very sickly.
The ones in the top were great, lovely plants and loads of cherry toms , pinkish hue to them.
They tasted OK but not a patch on Sungold.
The spare plants I gave to my Sister who put them in a normal hanging basket.
She was astonished at the size of the plants and number of toms.

    So conclusions
    1) Upside down is a waste of time, stick to hanging baskets. I will convert mine next year to hanging baskets only.
    2) Garden Pearl are great, must try and get a picture to post from my sister.

    Anyone else similar conclusions ?

    Thanks
    Jimmy

      They seemed well made.
I suggest you put a tom or two in the top
And then make little slits down the sides an pop in some trailing lobbila seeds, or what ever.
Should be a wondeful display with toms on top.
