  • Two sisters spacing

I had a search but couldn't find an answer to this...please point me if I missed it.

I would like to try two sisters this year - sweetcorn (Lark F1) and various curcurbits (Cucumber Gherkin, Cucumber Crystal Lemon, Courgette Zuchinni, Courgette Sunstripe and Winter Squash Sweet Dumpling). The bed is 4.5m by 1.2m (15' x 4') and is surrounded on three sides by narrow weed membrane paths (shown in green) which the curcurbits can also wander over if they want. Here's the plan:

The grey strip is a newly reclaimed path that is currently too compacted to grow in.

My plan was to plant the sweetcorn as if the curcurbits were not there, and then plant the curcurbits at the edges and corners of the bed, and in the gaps where the prongs of the green path 'combs' don't meet the top border, and let them ramble mainly into the sweetcorn bed. Does it work like that, or do you have to replace a corn plant or two (or four) with a curcurbit when you include them?

Also, if I do put rambling squash/cukes in the gaps at the top of the combs, is there a risk they'll ramble into my neighbour's plot? Should I perhaps stick to courgettes up there or can the cukes and squash be steered relatively easily? Of all these plants I've only grown courgettes before.
