Right... I had a look at what I have and what is growing well enough so far to consider pinching out..
So have selected about ten plants I will pinch out when they are ready..

First 2 done last night and labelled as such so i don't forget

    One Jalapeno
    One Cayenne

Shall keep an eye on them..and post when I do more

Mods..is it worth moving this to Vegging Out?? My posts are more gibberish musings than top tips I would think....
Or I can start a separate thread if ye want..

I've pinched out one of my lemon drops for a comparison - so far they all seem to have stopped growing though!

I thought this would get you moving!

I'm potting on and pinching out a few today. I haven't got many big enough yet. But I'll post pics of what ive done later.

I repotted all mine today - I was a very mean chilli mum. Anything that was just one stem with no side shoots has been decapitated and all except two very tall bushy-ish ones have had flowers removed.

I felt awful! BUT one of my 3 Medina plug chillies was snapped when it arrived - it just had two tiny leaves and the seed leaves left. I potted it not expecting much but its doing really well. Its a lot shorter than the other two, but much much bushier - so I'm finally convinced of the benefits

Next question though - at what point are they tall enough to stop taking the flowers off?

                    An update of sorts
1 each of following pinched out:

                    Anaheim
                    Cayenne
                    Chilaca
                    Fuego Ibrido
                    Jalapeno
                    Purple Jalapeno
                    Mucho Nacho

...at varying points over last while..

First photo shows 2 Fuego Ibrido sown at same time..One on left in slightly bigger pot since last Tuesday
One on left was pinched out and shows clearly bushier growth at bottom of plant, and looks better and bushier than non pinched one.
Second photo is a Cayenne that was pinched and shows good growth in terms of bushiness too, with good leaf growth at base of plants suggesting it will grow quite thickly..maybe
Third is Jalapeno (I think-at work at mo and cannot read) and left again is pinched out one..see for yourself the difference
Last photo is another pinched out Jalapeno ( I think- will check, label is hidden) and again looks quite bushy...

Will keep updating as we progress along the season.

It's nice to see it's so successful! There are a lot more leaves. I pinched out one of my sweet pepper tips about a week ago, there's new growth on it now,but it is worrying for a few days when they do nothing.

                            Hi everyone,

Started growing chillies this year and didn't realise you're supposed to do things like pinching etc. so finally did it last week to a few of then. Quite scary stuff but one of the purple tiger's are sprouting so thanks for the tips
