Hi all does anyone know where i can get cheapish top soil for my new raised beds. i have looked around and the price is around £75 to £90 a ton and i need 2 to 3 tons

1 Are you on an allotment site
2 Are you allowed to import top soil (we are not allowed on our site incase you bring in infected soil)
3 How about digging the soil out of the bed about a spit deep filling the bed with well rotted manure/compost/leafs and then putting the soil backon top of this. -
The beds are in my front garden. Can not dig too far down as there is building rubble about 1 foot down hence why I am going for raised beds.Comment

I just filled my garden raised beds with compost and manure. They've been going for 3 years now and no problems. It was just cheap compost 4 x 75L bags for £10.AKA AngieComment

Have you tried Freecycle. we got a load when we moved from a guy doing his back garden. Or try a landscape gardener - they often have to move topsoil and have to pay to have it taken away,
