  • Is it too cold to........

    Hi

I've got some sprouts in pots, and they are doing well.would it be ok to now put these outside in a cheap plastic greenhouse,or is it still too cold for that.

    All the best,Ian

I have just done the exact same thing, not sure if they will be ok, depends on the weather just keeping my fingers and everything else crossed

Saying that I AM the person that plants her runners out the end of march, with great results last year

But I am sure someone with a bit more knowledge will be along in a mo
You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans

I would be a perfectionist, but I dont have the time

At the end of March??????? Good grief they'd be dead within a week up here. Haven't even thought about sprouts yet but then I generally try not to. I think I sowed mine April last year but I suppose it depend on when you want them; are they early varieties? Anyway to answer your question I would think they'd be perfectly happy in a cold greenhouse, in fact they'd probably prefer it to being in the house

Yes I do get some funny looks from the old boys, I keep my own seed so if it fails I just re-plant, first at the lottie to be picking runners last year

They got two chances !We did have a good spring last year. not sure about this year mind.

Yeah, I mean why not? If they fail it's hardly the end of the world is it. My neighbours, while lovely are bit 'oooh it's twearly for that tut tut.' They'd have a fit if I put runners out in March, but up here they really wouldn't stand a chance.

I had some runners out in April last year which was WAY early for me but I'd been given them and had nowhere else to put them. Did very well.

Re the original post, put the sprouts in a greenhouse or coldframe if you have one but if they've been in a warm house harden them off a bit first or they'll sulk. Not sown mine yet, probably next weekend for me.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
