Default tomatoes

hi all,
after afew days of hot weather,i thought i ought to water the toms this morning so as i was watering i noticed that the roots were showing out of the compost at the top of the pots there in,is this o.k or should i cover with more compost,or can they get infected,i hope not coz there about 5ft high with 5/6 trusses on each.

Earth them up Finney. They can root from the stem so if you earth up the stem they will anchor themselves even more firmly. Sounds like they're doing well! Sometimes if you are enthusiastically splashing water from your can around where the roots are you can wash away the soil around them. It doesn't do them any harm to be covered up again.

it will do no harm to earth them up Finney. Toms will root at whatever depth you plant them.
I notice you say they are in pots with 5 to 6 trusses. I would stop them there. That's a lot for a pot to support. Hope they're great.
