    Tomatoes - pinching out

    Well, I've gone and done the deed and pinched out the growing tip of my tomato plants.

    Each plant has between 4 and 5 flowering trusses and I think, being situated on the Northumberland coast, that nows the time to get the plant concentrating on ripening the fruits as opposed to growing any more.

    Please say I'm right......if not, its a bit late now

      I also piched out mine a few weeks ago as they were hitting the roof of the greenhouse, I swear they're still growing though!

        Ive been pinching the g/h ones out when they get to 6 good trusses and the out door ones at 4

          Have pinched mine out as well, but as Noodles said they still seem to grow taller. My greenhouse ones are just over 6' now and were pinched out about 4 weeks ago. The tomatoes are still small so I'm hoping that now they will start to swell out a bit.
