It could be a leaf miner. If you hold up the leaf to the light can you see a little insect within the trail. Often the White but will separate in two.

Hi, thanks guys😀, I have looked closely at the leaf and I don't think I can see any insects in it, though it does look like a little trail of white dots, slightly broken up. I'll check out some info on Leafminers.

Are may leaves affected? If there's not many it may be best to pick them off and get rid of them - not in the compost.

Hi yes unfortunately there are quite a few leaves affected on one plant and some on the other, also I think there is something similar on my cucumber plants, can they get the same thing? I fumigated the greenhouse before I put the plants in but they came from a garden centre, I didn't grow them from seed. It is a very old greenhouse, it's in my parents garden (as I live in a flat) and they gave it over to me as I like to grow things. I tend it everyday though. I tried to grow tomatoes inside my flat once which was a bit hit and miss lol!

It looks like sunburn to me. How hot is the greenhouse? Have you got the leaves wet when you've watered them? One reason to water in the evening is so that the plants have time to dry off before the sun rises. Droplets of water on the leaves focus the suns rays and burn the leaves.

Hi, thanks for the tip, yeah it is fairly hot in the greenhouse, I have coated the outside with some of that coolshade liquid but I couldn't quite reach the top so I strung old nets inside the roof to act as shade but a lot of sun does still get through. I water them about half past five but the greenhouse is still in full sun at that point unfortunately.

It could be leaf hoppers,have a look under the lowest leaves,they won't necessarily be on the leaf that's affected with the white dots. I've got a similar thing on some petunias,I'm not removing the leaves these bugs just suck the sap out of the leaf if it's them,check under all the leaves for tiny bugs like the size of a grain of salt.

I've seen some moths about near my tomatoes,I hope they don't lay eggs. Last year I had a cluster of eggs on a leaf & about 20-30 tiny caterpillars hatched out eating the leaves,I kept an eye on them to see what they were going to develop into,could've been something good,it wasn't good at all! Hope your tomatoes grow well!

Hi, thanks everyone, I think my tomatoes are now thriving, the white patches don't seem to have spread to the upper leaves and they are growing a pace! 😀 Cucumbers are also coming on well ditto the marrow, beans and melon (well I think the melons ok!)
